The CNC surface grinder has advanced control, complex technology, and difficult fault diagnosis. CNC surface grinder is an integrated machine, hydraulic, and electrical surface grinder, and the occurrence of faults must comprehensively reflect mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and other aspects.

The maintenance of CNC surface grinders requires maintenance personnel to master the principle of "external first, internal second". In other words, if a malfunction occurs, maintenance personnel should first use observation, smell, listen, ask, and touch methods to inspect the inner and outer blades. For example, on a CNC surface grinder, the connection between external mobile switches, button switches, hydraulic and pneumatic components and printed circuit board sockets, edge connectors and external or interconnected components, motor cabinet sockets or terminal chambers, and other electromechanical equipment is an important factor leading to signal transmission failure due to poor contact. In addition, in industrial environments, changes in temperature and humidity, contamination of components and circuit boards by oil or dust, mechanical vibrations, etc. can seriously affect the signal transmission channel of connectors. A surface grinder is a highly automated and complex mechanical processing equipment.

Generally speaking, machine tool failures are easy to detect, but the diagnosis of CNC system failures is more difficult. Firstly, check whether the machine tool components are normal, whether the travel switch is flexible, and whether the pneumatic and hydraulic systems are normal. From maintenance practice, it can be seen that most of the faults in CNC surface grinders are caused by mechanical failures. Therefore, in troubleshooting, if we first pay attention to solving mechanical faults, we can achieve twice the result with half the effort. Maintenance personnel should be stationary before taking action, not blindly. Firstly, it is necessary to inquire with the operator about the process and situation of the fault, read the manual and mode information, and then manually identify and handle the fault. Secondly, based on the motion principle of the selected surface grinder, through retrospective testing and analysis, the shutdown state of the surface grinder can be observed. Only when it is determined to be a non vicious cycle fault or non-destructive fault, can power be supplied to the surface grinder.

Under operating conditions, dynamic observation, inspection, and testing should be conducted to identify faults. For malignant destructive faults, the power supply can only be started after eliminating the danger and dynamic diagnosis can be carried out while in operation.
