Introduction to several methods of CNC surface grinding machine

1、 Elastic gasket clamping method

When grinding the above-mentioned thin sheet workpiece on a CNC surface grinder, an elastic clamping mechanism is used to achieve positioning and clamping of the thin sheet workpiece in a free state. Place a layer of 0.5mm thick rubber between the workpiece and the magnetic worktable. When the workpiece is subjected to magnetic attraction, the rubber is compressed and its elastic deformation decreases, allowing for the grinding of a flat surface of the workpiece. Repeatedly grinding several times can meet the machining accuracy requirements.

2、 Strengthening the rigidity of thin sheet workpieces with temporary measures

The CNC surface grinder uses epoxy resin bonding agent to bond the thin sheet workpiece to a flat plate in a free state. Place the tablet and sheet together on the magnetic suction cup. After grinding the flat surface of one end of the thin sheet, remove the thin sheet workpiece from the flat plate, place the ground surface on the magnetic suction cup, and then grind the flat surface of the other end of the thin sheet workpiece. Due to the fluidity of epoxy resin before hardening, it can fill the gap between thin sheet workpieces and flat plates. After the epoxy resin hardens, the workpiece is bonded to the flat plate as a whole, greatly enhancing the rigidity of the workpiece. Under magnetic attraction, thin sheet workpieces will not undergo clamping deformation, creating conditions for grinding flat surfaces. Thick grease can also be used instead of epoxy resin to fill the gap between the thin sheet workpiece and the magnetic suction cup, enhancing the rigidity of the workpiece and achieving good results.

3、 Mechanical clamping method

Using the flat jaw pliers in the accessories of the CNC surface grinder, the thin sheet workpiece is held by a small flat jaw pliers on a magnetic worktable. Due to the height of the flat jaw pliers, the magnetic force on the jaws is small. Using the method of gradually reducing the feed rate to grind a flat surface of the thin sheet workpiece and then removing it, place the already ground surface on the magnetic worktable, and then grind the other surface of the thin sheet workpiece repeatedly several times until the flatness of the two surfaces meets the requirements.

4、 Vacuum clamping method

The CNC surface grinder uses atmospheric pressure to clamp thin workpieces for grinding processing. Its working principle is: the clamp is equipped with a rubber sealing ring, and the thin sheet workpiece is placed on the rubber sealing ring, thereby forming a sealed cavity between the workpiece and the clamp. Use a vacuum pump to extract indoor air from the suction port, and the workpiece is clamped. Due to the low clamping force, the circular grinding method can be used for grinding processing. After grinding the flat surface of one end of the thin sheet workpiece, the above method can be used to grind the flat surface of the other end of the thin sheet workpiece, and satisfactory results can also be obtained.

The common thin sheet parts of CNC surface grinders, such as gaskets, friction plates, templates, and thin plates, are prone to warping during grinding due to poor rigidity, difficult heat dissipation, and bending after heat treatment. Magnetic suction cups are usually used for grinding on the surface grinder. After grinding, the magnetic attraction is removed, and the thin sheet workpiece is restored to its original state, making it difficult to ensure machining accuracy. If the following clamping methods are used to ensure the positioning and clamping of the thin sheet workpiece in a free state, and the double end face is used for grinding processing, good results can be achieved to meet the requirements of part processing accuracy.
